Source Basics brand your small business

There are many components of a brand identity: logo, color palette, the choice of the source and visual vocabulary. There is plenty of information available on the use of logos, colors and visual vocabulary, but not much on the effective use of sources. So, here is some information about the creative, practical and technical aspects of the sources.

Source foundations

A font is a set of all letters in the alphabet, designed with similar characteristics. This is also known as a font.

Fonts are usually designed to include some variations in style. This can include styles like light, normal, bold, Semibold, ultra bold italics. Some sources also include "expert" versions, which are fonts that include fractions and mathematical symbols.

Font families are typically the source packages that include all the different versions of a source. Using fonts with large families will be given a wide range of sources to be used on materials, for variety and emphasis.

There are many basic classifications of fonts. Four of the most common types of sources are:

- Serif fonts, which have little "feet" called auction, at the ends of the lines forming the letters. Some examples of serif fonts include Times, Palatino, and Garamond. These sources are more traditional, elegant and past fashion.

- Sans-serif fonts do not have feet. "Sans serif means" without serifs. "Arial, Verdana, Tahoma and Helvetica fonts are some of the most common sans-serif. These sources are clean and modern.

- Handwriting fonts are calligraphic or cursive fonts. Brush Script and screenplay are two bridal sources of common script.

- Screen fonts are decorative and often used for logos or headlines.

There are other types of sources and, including handwriting fonts and sources of all covers. However, the four mentioned above are the most common and useful in business communications.

Creative source instructions

Each font has certain characteristics that translate into that font's personality. A source may be severe or cheerful, traditional or modern, legible or decorative, or any number of other personality traits. The features of the font used in your marketing materials and communications company should reflect and enhance your company brand.

Your company should have designated fonts to use in the following situations:

- A source logo, which is not usually one of the sources that come installed on Windows machines: it should be more unique and interesting. Some logos have two or three different sources them. If this is the case, then consider using one of these sources as the secondary source.

- A secondary font, used for headlines, sub-headings, phrases, special texts, such as graphics and titles, and decorative text such as quotations extraction, which are the large contributions that are used decoratively in articles and documents. This may be the same font used in your logo. This is typically a single source and interesting too. This can also be used as the source of your contact information on your stationery, in terms of readability.

- A tertiary source is optional and can be used when the secondary source is not always legible, for mid-length texts such as pull quotes and contact information.

- A source serif text, for long printed documents. Printed materials are easier to read if they are in serif font instead of sans-serif font.

- A sans-serif, shorter use printed on the screen. Text on a computer monitor is easier to read in a sans-serif in a serif font.

- A source website, which can be the same font used as the source of the main text sans-serif, depending on how you translate that source online viewing.

All these sources should be similar or opposite characteristics. Choosing fonts with similar characteristics will make your party and create sources of consistency throughout documents. Choosing fonts with contrasting characteristics will build visual texture and interest in its materials. For example, you could pick all thin, sans-serif fonts such as Arial and Frutiger to create a harmonious whole, adequacy of the sources. Or you could pick fonts with contrasting characteristics to create a greater interest, such as using a serif font like Palatino for the headlines and then using a sans-serif font, like Verdana for the text.

Every piece of marketing material or a document created must have a maximum of three or four families of fonts in them. (A font family includes all bold and italic variations of a given source and to use bold or italic effects does not count as additional fonts.) Using more than three or four fonts is confusing, and it looks unprofessional.

Practice guidelines use of sources

The sources may require special attention by sending materials on a professional printer for reproduction, and use on your website, or send documents Word to others. Here are some basics on using fonts and preserving their appearance in these cases.

- In materials printed, it is easier to read long blocks of copy that is in a serif font. sans-serif fonts are usually used in print for short blocks of information, including news, quotes, or bulleted lists.

- When sending your materials to be professionally printed, make sure to address their needs related to use of sources. You can include the fonts with the files you send to the printer (which could be considered an infringement of copyright licensing), rasterize the artwork (Turn it into pixels, which the source data is no longer necessary), or outline fonts (creating shapes of the sources, an option that is available most vector programs like Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand), so that can be printed accurately. Schema source is the best way to guarantee that their sources will remain accurate and sharp.

- Online, on websites, HTML emails and newsletters, sans-serif fonts look the best are clean, clear and easy to read. There is one other trick to online font use: you have to make sure you use fonts that are installed on the computers of people who read your site. Otherwise, your text will appear in the default font selected by the browser, which is often Courier, a clear source. This limitation will leave you with several sources to choose, though, as Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Trebuchet MS y.

- Serif fonts could also be used on websites, however, is best used in quantities limited to headlines and captions. Some sources are available for use on the web include Times, Times New Roman, and Georgia.

- Another question often arises from online sources is the difficulty of controlling the size and appearance of fonts. Standard font tags in HTML do not provide precise control of size and need for several times throughout each HTML document, so changes can be time consuming. You can use Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS, to precisely control The exact size of your sources and make the font throughout the site, size, or color changes with a simple modification.

- In Word documents, also want to make sure that the sources used in the text will be available in the recipient's computer. Good sources of their use are the standard fonts that come installed on PC, including Arial, Verdana, Tahoma, Times New Roman, Georgia, Palatino, Courier, and Trebuchet MS.

- To add a small amount of custom text, such as your logo, slogan, or address information to create an image of that information and put it in the header and footer.

- Another way to preserve the appearance of the text is to export the document as a PDF file and send to the recipient; PDF files embed the fonts in each document so that can be viewed on any computer and still look good.

Some technical information about the font file types

When you purchase fonts to be used on the computer, often given the option of buying a Post Script, True Type or Open Type font. Here is a brief explanation of the characteristics and problems with each of these formats:

- Post Script fonts are considered industry standard, as preferred by professional printers. There is a format Post Script fonts available for Macintosh computers and another format available for Windows computers, these sources can not be shared between Macs and PCs.

- True Type fonts are often found on Windows machines. These sources are not printed and PostScript fonts.

- Open Type fonts are the newest type of the source. Are cross-platform compatible, but many sources are not yet available in this format.

With this information about the creative, practical and how the use of sources, we hope that you can choose the font that will enhance your brand.

best printer photo quality
What is the best photo printer?

I checked pc world and can not get a straight answer. I am looking for quality, not quantity. Whether a multi-function or single photo I do not mind, but I would like a printer that has the best picture quality. According to PC World, the HP Photosmart D7360 is a better purchase but it seems that the quality is not great. The HP Photosmart 8250 had the highest rating, but again, the quality was not great. SO, what's the scoop? I have my own photo editing software, so I really do not need this package, but if the printer prints very good shot it will not have to do a lot of law editing? Thanks

HP Photosmart D7360 Printer and the Photosmart 8250 is basically the same printer. The reason that the HP Photosmart series are so popular is because the price of ink. The cost per photo with the 8250 or D7360 is 24 cents. Compare that with an Epson or a Canon that are between 50 and 60 cents per photo. For example: Many photo printers now have six individual cartridges. If you buy the wrong printer, you will find tons spending money on ink. A set of 6 cartridges some Epson printer will cost about $ 100 for a set of ink (6 times $ 15)! However, during the 6 HP printer cartridges, you can buy all over 6 cartridges with 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper in a combo for $ 36, bringing the cost of the photo below to 24 cents. As for the photo quality goes, you will be more than satisfied. If your camera took a good picture, then your printer to print a good photo. I have an HP Photosmart C5180 (Ink system like the D7360 and 8250) and never I had a picture that did not like leaving it. It always prints what the camera took. Basically, the HP Photosmart printers are profitable. Photos in the printer or lease Epsons simply cost too much. hp printers have been assessed more reliably by PC Magazine 15 years in a row. I agree with PC World. HP D7360 is the best buy. Photos will be better than Wal-Mart or Walgreens could ever wish for. While photos will not be the best on the market, everyone I know who has an HP Photosmart printer are very happy with the results. Another note, the D7360 replaces the 8250. The 8250 is usually no longer sold in stores. I've seen most of the D7360 retailers like Best Buy or Office Depot.

Creative Ways Companies using materials used cell phone

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), less than 20 percent of mobile phones are recycled each year. Unfortunately, because many consumers do not know where or how to recycle cell phones, more often end up in landfills. This is a waste, since cell phones are made from precious metals, copper and plastic, all of which uses energy to extraction and manufacturing. By sending used phones to landfills, consumers are wasting valuable resources.

There are ways in which all brands of cell phones, phones using AT & T Cell and used mobile phones to Blackberry phones used Sprint and Verizon used cell phones can be recycled. And if consumers choose to recycle their used cell phones, will reduce emissions house gases and conserve natural resources.

One way that people can start is through participation in National Recycling Week Cell the phone. This program is sponsored by EPA and is actually a joint effort with many different service providers, cell phone manufacturers and retailers Cell phone products. Held every year just before Earth Day, this week-long event includes promotions in stores and online awards and competitions at the same time provide consumers with easy ways in which they can recycle their cell phones and accessories.

Some states have been working to increase recycling of cell phones. For example, California has enacted a law requiring cell phone retailers to provide a method people back mobile phones for reuse, recycling or proper disposal. In other words, Verizon customers in California who buy target = "_blank" title = "Cheap Verizon Cell Phones"> cheap Verizon cell phones say in store retailers how they can recycle or dispose of the phones Verizon used cell that already may have. Several other states have similar laws or are pursuing similar legislation.

Where Mobile Go Recycling

Many people wonder about cell phones-just-recycled where to go. What are good and they use them? Well, it that in reality there is little chance for them to use cell phones will be used:

  • Some phones, such as those used by mobile Blackberry phones or those used Sprint cell phones can be refurbished and resold in the United States or abroad. Companies such as renewing worn DotCells.com phones and sell them individually or collectively. Newer models of phones that are delivered for recycling, as well as those containing multiple features more likely to be used for this purpose.
  • Some basic phones, perhaps used phones AT & T cells found in excellent condition, can be used as 911 phones, which can only be used to call for emergency help. These phones are useful for people who can not afford a cell phone plan, however, who want the tranquility of having an emergency phone.
  • Aging and cell phones do not work are recycled for their components. While the materials in cell phones are in small quantities, certain companies do not extract resources such as plastic, glass, gold and other useful components.

Used phones are thrown away still have life left to them, if sold in a workable condition AT & T, Dotcells.com, and eBay, for example, or deconstructed into its individual components that can be used for new creations.

Recycling is becoming in a pretty big business these days, and many types of technology aside unwanted cell phones - are able to be recycled. Consumers can now recycle printer cartridges, rechargeable batteries, televisions, computers and more.

Printer help - Visual Basic 6?

Hey,

How do I get a FORM to print using the Print Dialog

to print to default i say form1.printform but how do I allow the user to select printer for the form to be printed to?

How do you print? If you’ve set the PrinterDefault property to True, you can use the
Printer object to print data (the user can change the default printer from the Printer
dialog box, setting a new default printer in the Windows registry or win.ini, but that
new printer automatically becomes the one referred to by the Printer object). For
example, you can print the picture in a picture box using the Printer object this way:
Printer.PaintPicture Picture1.Picture, 0, 0. Otherwise, you must use Windows
functions to print to the device represented by the hDC (a device context handle)
property.
After the user clicks on OK, you can read these properties from the Common Dialog
control to determine what printer options they’ve selected:
• Copies—The number of copies to print
• FromPage—The page to start printing
• ToPage—The page to stop printing
• hDC—The device context for the selected printer
Let’s see an example. In this case, we’ll use the Visual Basic PrintForm method to
print a copy of the current form as many times as the user specifies. We start by setting
the Common Dialog control’s CancelError property to True so we can catch Cancel
button clicks as trappable errors:
Private Sub Command1_Click()
On Error GoTo Cancel
...
Cancel:
End Sub
Then we set the PrinterDefault property to True and show the Print dialog box:
Private Sub Command1_Click()
On Error GoTo Cancel
CommonDialog1.PrinterDefault = True
CommonDialog1.ShowPrinter
...
Cancel:
End Sub
All that’s left is to loop over the number of copies the user has requested (as returned in
the Copies property) and call PrintForm each time:
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim intLoopIndex As Integer
On Error GoTo Cancel
CommonDialog1.PrinterDefault = True
CommonDialog1.ShowPrinter
For intLoopIndex = 1 To CommonDialog1.Copies
PrintForm
Next intLoopIndex
Cancel:
End Sub
That’s it—when the user clicks Command1, the program displays the Print dialog box;
the user can set the number of copies to print and when they click on OK, Visual Basic
displays a dialog box with the text “Printing…” momentarily, and the print job starts

Digital photo canvas art?

I recently went to art shows. One had huge canvases display panoramic images of landscapes photos (Taken with a digital camera). Up close images appeared oil paintings, but they were actually digital photos printed on this canvas as art. These photos were nice and spacious. There were style pan and about 30 "x 48" (2.5 feet x 4 feet). The fabric was attached to a wooden frame frame directly into a wall hanging w / o need for a framework. I was wondering if anyone knew anything more about this topic. Is there a special name for this process of photography on digital canvas art? What kind of printer is used? Where do you get the photos developed? What else is needed for this process? As costs? Where I can go for information about this topic?

I just saw these things in the photo exhibits at the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth and asked him about it. Apparently it is a relatively new technique.
