I am having trouble printing with the Dell A940 printer. ?
Not printed across the page. Simply print in half vertically. The test page is not good either. The ink cartridges are new. I can reload the software but to no avail. Help!

I have a Lexmark printer as mentioned. And I have two PC's, Dell Dimension 5150 and a laptop, HP Compaq NC4010. I have printer sharing on both computers and installed the drivers on both PC. I can use a crossover cable to share and internet connection, (Peer-to-Peer). So the printer is installed on the desktop via USB, but I want it so I can print over the network via the USB connection on the desktop. When I install the printer on the laptop I have a box that says: "The printer is on a network," Click it, then says: "Is it connected, peer-to-peer I clicked Yes then asks me, "remote computer name" and "Printer Name". I put in the name of the printer, but What is the name of the remote computer? Is the name of laptop I am trying to install the printer so that I can print over the network, or is desk with the printer installed via USB? Please help me because I've tried every computer name I used on both computers and still not working!
Ok first of all, understand that you are using a crossover cable. That's a real unorthodox configuration has happening. If I were you I would get a router and connect both computers to the router. As for the printer sharing going. It must be simple. You have shared on the desktop, and file and printer sharing enabled on both computers, to the right ... Well, on the laptop only has to go to My Network Places. Browse to your desktop computer on the network. You may have to click on View Computers working group, then Microsoft Windows Network, then then the entire network of Microsoft Windows networks again. You should see the shared printer on this desktop computer. Double-click the printer. Install the Windows XP printer from your laptop. You may be asked if you want to use the computer controller desktop. Tell that Windows is a "trusted" source. (You will be asked) Decide if you want to be by default. Print a test page and it's all ready. If your network is not right, then do not even see the desktop computer on the Net "My Places". So you have to go back and get your network directly if that were the case. Good luck

How I can print in black and white and not color?
I have an HP Photosmart C3100. I just left a black and white or grayscale, but still printing the colored pieces of the page in color and not the whole thing in black and white. How I can change this. If a printer using color and black and white cartridge, do not use color cartridge for black ink cartridge instead of black and whilte, right? I think that some printers do that.
I have a HP ... you should be able to set the color each time to send something to print. When you click print, a screen may ask the printer or the number copies. There is a button "Preferences." Click on it and another picture appears. Click on paper / quality and here you have the option to print in color or black and white.

The Windows 7 Operating System launch has been a breakthrough in productivity, user interface design and power. Many people on older operating systems such as Windows 2000 and Windows XP, have taken the opportunity to upgrade to the Windows 7 operating system only to find some of their system devices and hardware are not supported with supplied drivers.
Cheap and large memory and reasonably powerful PC hardware has allowed many people to install Windows 7, however they have been unable to use all their system devices to their full advantage. Many hardware vendors have made a conscious decision to not release newer drivers or are still developing drivers for the Windows 7 platform.
You do have several options if you have a system device like a monitor, webcam or printer that does not have compatible Windows 7 driver. You can run some devices in Windows XP compatibility mode, upgrade your hardware, install a compatible driver for your system device and regularly visit the manufacturer websites for driver updates in their driver download support areas.
A compatible driver for a printer for example would be say a Postscript compatible driver. Many printers support either PCL or Postscript so if your printer supported Postscript you will find a HP printer with Postscript support is available when you add a printer. As Postscript is a common standard you should be able to get reasonable output from your printer.
In regards to checking the manufacturer websites this can be a tedious task so you can use a driver update program found at PCWintools.com which will notify you when the manufacturer releases a Windows 7 compatible driver or inform you of driver updates for all your other system and device drivers. A worthwhile investment to keep you productive and your Windows PC updated.
