View compatible printers / scanners ...?

I have a Canon PIXMA iP4300 printer and a Canon CanoScan 3000F ... Does anyone know if there is a list or something out there that lists the printers / scanners are compatible with Windows Vista (which will receive a Dell laptop with Windows Vista ...). Or someone know if my material is compatible with it? Merci

There are very few printers compatible with Vista (the only one I know is a little older Lexmark printers), but some only simi-compatible. All you have to do is install the printer manually. Some of the others have problems with disconnects and reconnects (hp photosmart series) but I think the Service Pack 1, due in the next 4 weeks to 3 months should solve many of the problems.

My scanner is being stupid?? Help please?? Urgent, for midterms?

I have a Kodak ESP 7 all-in-one-printer and it's wireless....

Had the same problem on my ESP7.

Sorted it using a USB lead and given up fiddling with wireless... It's all ok when it works, but in my case, the trouble of investigating and resolving was far more than the obvious, so opted for the wired solution.

In the end of the day, you won't need to be constantly printing, really... And yu can always save printing jobs on a queue for the next time you connect the printer.

"I can upload pictures from my digital camera directly to my portable hard drive without having to connect to my PC?

I have one Canon PowerShot A550, which upload images directly to a printer. I just got a portable hard drive that requires power and a usb powerpoint before "awake." Both the camera and connect the hard disk to the PC through a USB two companies, with a small connector (male B?) On the device, and a large (male?) Connector on the pc. If I have a male A to male adapter to connect the camera directly to the hard disk could then use the function to load my camera to move photos to disk hard, and the connection to the camera comply with the requirement of the secondary unit of energy? I'm going on holiday to Tasmania for a week, and to the States for three months next year, but I do not 'have a laptop, so I need a way to store all those pictures, so I can take more! The answer is probably no. You need an interface of some sort to the camera and hard drive to communicate and the hard disk itself has no that. Memory cards are cheap and small - buy a lot before you go. An alternative would be something like the Epson P-3000, a portable hard drive can used to store photos and music files. It has a display screen so you can see them too.

can I convert a "normal" printer into wifi?

Normally yes.

All you do is make sure the printer is installed and working nicely on a computer running XP Pro (havent tried with Vista).

Then you connect THAT pc to any wireless router. If you have another laptop/pc wirelessly connected to that router (using same subnet and are on same network ip range, eg both are 192.168.1.xx) it will detect the remote printer.

Go to Control Panel -> Printer and Faxes -> Add Printer. Now select the 2nd option "A Network printer, or a printer attached to another computer" and click browse printer.

Make sure you have a working home network (i.e. you can share files from one pc to other, ping them, use remote desktop etc) before doing so.

what is the canon 50d body made out of and camera advice?

i am considering the canon 50d. i was wondering if it has a plastic body or not. i have been all over and cant figure it out. not that its a deal breaker or anything, just curious.
the kit i am looking at comes with the 28-135 lens and pixma pro9000 printer. this kit goes for $1190. or would it be better to just get the body and pick up the lenses separately?
i am then interested in getting a long distance lens and macro lens (any advice)? i'm hoping to spend less than $1000 on both lenses.
i have also considered the T2i it has some nice features like hd recording and a few other things. but i think the 50d sounds better for everything else. i think i will be doing more photos rather then video.
i don't have any camera accessories--tripod, bag, etc., so i would have to get all that at sometime too.

The 50D is made of metal, it feels perfectly in my hands, I have one.

The 28-135 isn't really a great lens, and 1190$ is too much, you can get the body for what, 850$ on Amazon? Lenses. Macro and telephoto for less than 1000$? That is possible, get a 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM or EF-S 60mm f/2.8 and then a 70-300mm.
